As I stated in the first summary, the trip easily divides into 6 legs. After 5 months and 5 days, we have completed all 6. Attached is the trip map for the final leg.
Here are some stats for the trip up to Oct 14th that we thought you might find interesting:
- We have added no more states for a total of 20 (FL, AL, MS, AR, MO, TN, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, ME) No more US states in this direction!
- But we also added 2 more Canadian Provinces or a total of 5 (QE, NB, PEI, NS, NL)
- We have added about 1800 more miles for a total of just over 9300 miles and still an average of 130 miles between stops
- The longest leg this month was only 168 miles from Cymbria, PE to Maitland, NS. The shortest leg was 8 miles from Bras d’Or, NS to Port aux Basques, NL but with a 110 mile ferry ride in the middle.
- We didn’t drive on any Interstate, but the TransCanada Highway 1 was the closest thing to one. So, if we count it, I estimate still only about 1000 miles out of the 9300 on smooth highways.
- Our fuel economy still averaged just under 13 mpg this month. Canadian diesel was more at 1.70C$/L. You do the math!
- We still stop to refuel about every 230 – 260 miles and add about 17 – 18 gallons of diesel
- We stayed in 16 more RV parks – 72 total. They were all private parks.
- 0 Harvest Host reservations –total of 4
- 0 Luxury RV Parks – still total of 3
- 0 State Parks – still total of 9
- 16 Private Parks – total of 44
- 0 KOA park – total of 4
- 0 Specialty Park (Off Road) – still total of 1
- 0 Thousand Trails Park – still total of 3
- 0 Family & Friends – still total of 3
- We walked and hiked about 109 more miles again for a total of 430 miles for whole 5 months – Not bad including driving a lot!
Hope you find these stats interesting. If you are curious about other aspects of the trip, let us know and we can add that info to the summary. Next trip summary report will be after the first leg of our next trip planned to start next May. The plan is to go west through Canada to the mountains.
