Trip Recap Up to Date #4

As I stated in the first summary, the trip easily divides into 6 legs.  After 4 months, we have completed 5 legs with about 1 more month to go.

Here are some stats for the trip up to Sept 4th that we thought you might find interesting:

  1. We have added 2 more states for a total of 20 (FL, AL, MS, AR, MO, TN, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, VT, NH, ME) No more US states in this direction!
  2. But we also added 3 Canadian Provinces (QE, NB, PEI)
  3. We have added about 1500 more miles for a total of almost 7500 miles and still an average of 135 miles between stops
  4. The longest leg this month was 222 miles from Gaspe, QE to Cambellton, NB.  The shortest leg was 56 miles from Montpelier, VT to Littleton, NH.
  5. We drove on the Interstate maybe once this month from Bangor to Houlton (the end of I-95!), but I estimate still only about 900 miles out of the 7500.
  6. I think the mountains again hit our fuel economy pretty hard with an average of just under 13.5 mpg this month.  Canadian diesel was more at 1.70C$/L.  You do the math!
  7. We still stop to refuel about every 230 – 260 miles and add about 17 – 18 gallons of diesel
  8. We have stayed in 13 more RV parks – 56 total
    • 1 Harvest Host reservations –total of 5
    • 0 Luxury RV Parks – still total of 3
    • 0 State Parks – still total of 9
    • 11 Private Parks – total of 28
    • 1 KOA park – total of 4
    • 0 Specialty Park (Off Road) – still total of 1
    • 0 Thousand Trails Park – still total of 3
    • 0 Family & Friends – still total of 3
  9. We walked and hiked about 81 more miles again for a total of 320 for the first 4 months– Not bad for driving a lot!

Hope you find these stats interesting. If you are curious about other aspects of the trip, let us know and we can add that info to the summary.  Next trip summary report should be a complete summary after we finish up!
