As I stated in the first summary, the trip easily divides into 6 legs. After 3 months, we have completed 3 ½ legs about 2 ½ more months to go. Attached is the trip map up to date.
Here are some stats for the trip up to Aug 4th that we thought you might find interesting:
- We have added 8 more states for a total of 18 (FL, AL, MS, AR, MO, TN, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, VT) I must admit some were small!
- We have added about 1400 more miles for a total of almost 6000 miles and still an average of 140 miles between stops
- The longest leg this month by only 2 miles was 182 miles from Bethel, NY to Lake George, NY. The shortest leg was 52 miles from Wading River, NY to Mystic, CT but there was a 30 miles ferry ride as well that I didn’t count.
- We drove on the Interstate a little more this month, but I estimate still only about 800 miles out of the 6000.
- We normally drive under 60 mph (65 mph is a recommended max for the RV) – same but even less in the mountains
- I think the mountains again hit our fuel economy pretty hard with an average of just under 13 mpg this month.
- We still stop to refuel about every 230 – 260 miles and add about 17 – 18 gallons of diesel
- We have stayed in 11 more RV parks – 43 total
- 1 Harvest Host reservation –total of 5
- 0 Luxury RV Parks – still total of 3
- 1 State Parks – total of 9
- 4 Private Parks – total of 17
- 2 KOA park – total of 3
- 0 Specialty Park (Off Road) – still total of 1
- 1 Thousand Trails Park – total of 2
- 2 Family & Friends – total of 3
- We have walked and hiked about 76 more miles again for a total of 242 for the first 3 months– Not bad for driving a lot!
Hope you find these stats interesting. If you are curious about other aspects of the trip, let us know and we can add that info to the summary. Next trip summary report should be after September 8th!
