As I stated in the first summary, the trip easily divides into 6 legs. After 2 months, we have completed 3 legs and consider it half way with 3 more months to go. Attached is the trip map up to date.
Here are some stats for the trip up to July 8th that we thought you might find interesting:
- We have added 3 more states for a total of 10 (FL, AL, MS, AR, MO, TN, GA, SC, NC, VA)
- We have added about 2000 miles for a total of 4500 miles and still an average of 140 miles between stops
- The longest leg this month was 261 miles from Waynesboro, VA to my sister’s house in Plymouth, NC. The shortest leg was from the north side of Atlanta to the south side of Atlanta of “only” 73 miles
- We drove on the Interstate a little more this month, but I estimate still only about 400 miles preferring to stay on rural roads
- We normally drive under 60 mph (65 mph is a recommended max for the RV) – same but even less in the mountains
- I think the mountains hit our fuel economy pretty hard with an average of only about 12 mpg this month.
- We still stop to refuel about every 230 – 260 miles and add about 17 – 18 gallons of diesel
- We have stayed in 14 more RV parks – 32 total
- 1 Harvest Host reservations – total of 4
- 0 Luxury RV Parks – still total of 3
- 3 State Parks – total of 8
- 8 Private Parks – total of 13
- 0 KOA park – still total of 1
- 0 Specialty Park (Off Road) – still total of 1
- 1 Thousand Trails Park
- 1 Family & Friends
- We have walked and hiked about 76 more miles already for a total of 165 for the first 2 months– Not bad for driving a lot!
Hope you find these stats interesting. If you are curious about other aspects of the trip, let us know and we can add that info to the summary. Next trip summary report should be after August 8th!
