6/27/26– Trip Recap up to date

This summary is for Leg #2.  Our trip this summer is planned for 6 legs.  1) Head west from Boise and then south to meet friends around the San Francisco Bay area 2) Drive north along the western coast of California, Oregon and Washington up to Canada 3) Cross into Canada at Vancouver Island and then up to northern British Colombia 4) Head back south through Alberta and Saskatchewan 5) Discover North and South Dakota  and finally 6) Head to Yellowstone National Park and back to Boise!    Here is a map of the second leg just finished. 

We have completed the second leg in the first 7 weeks and are now heading further north for the third leg up the coast into Canada.

Here are some stats for the trip as of June 25th that we thought you might find interesting:

  1. We have now been to 4 US states so far (ID, OR, CA, WA). 
  2. We travelled 1021 total miles for this leg at an average of only 113 miles between stops.  The total milage for the trip is 2150. 
  3. The longest travel day was the first one at 169 miles from Myers Flat, CA to Brookings, OR and the shortest leg was 49 miles from Tillamook, OR to Cannon Beach, OR. 
  4. We have not driven any Interstate this leg staying mostly on US 101 right along the ocean.
  5. We normally drive under 60 mph but have had a lot of 30-40 mph drives as well!
  6. We have averaged about 13 mpg.  Diesel costs are down $.30/gallon this leg to an average of $6.20/gallon.
  7. We have stayed in 9 more places on this leg.  That makes 20 for this year and 152 since we left Miami in May 2024.

    • 7 Private parks for a total of 12 this year
    • 0 KOA parks this leg for a total of 2 this year
  8. We walked and hiked about 60 miles for a total of 155 so far. – Whew!
