6/21/25 – Trip Recap up to date

Our trip this summer is planned for 6 legs.  1) Finish Newfoundland and Labrador 2) Cross Quebec and Ontario and visit friends 3) Cross back into the US and visit more friends 4) Cross the prairies in Manitoba and Saskatchewan 5) Go to the mountains in Alberta, and finally 6) To Montana and Idaho to visit family and friends and for our rendezvous with the Camp Carpe Diem group again.  Here is a map of the full trip.  There will be some changes, but this gives you a good idea of the plan.

We have completed the first leg in the first 5+ weeks and are now heading west for the second leg and  more of Quebec and Ontario.

Here are some stats for the trip up as of June 21st that we thought you might find interesting:

  1. We have only been in 2 Canadian Provinces (NL, QC) although Labrador is a place of its own!
  2. We have travelled about 2400 miles at an average of 110 miles between stops.
  3. The longest leg was 266 miles from Port Hope Simpson, NL to Happy Valley – Goose Bay, NL and the shortest leg was 7 miles from Portugal Cove South, NL to Trepassey, NL.
  4. We have not driven on any 4 lane highways because there are none.  Closest to Interstate was on the Trans Canada Hwy in Newfoundland but for only about 100 miles.
  5. We normally drive under 60 mph but have had a lot of 30-40 mph drives as well and mostly on gravel roads!
  6. We have averaged about 12 mpg on a lot of back roads with hills and curves and 100 miles of gravel!
  7. We have stayed in 22 RV parks
  • 2 State Parks
  • 4 City Parks
  • 15 Private Parks
  • 1 KOA park

And we have walked and hiked about 100 miles already – Whew!

If you find these stats interesting and/or are curious about other aspects of the trip, let us know and we can add that info to the summary.  Next summary report should be after July 19th!
